Ever thought about what you should look for when buying a used car? Where should you go? What are the signs that it’s a good buy? Well take a look into what we have to say about what you are about to purchase.

First and for most, take the car on a test drive. Look and feel for issues. Check the lights to make sure everything is working optimally. Make sure to test it on both city and highway roads. If anything seems unusual notify your salesman.

Check the inside and out for bumps and bruises. These can play a huge factor in the condition of your “future” car. Within the inside of the car check the upholstery carefully as well as any repairs that need to be made. ALWAYS open the hood and take a good look at the engine and all its parts. Dirt and rust can be a strong indication there may be issues down the road.

Check for leaks. Once you have taken the car out for a test spin, park it in a clean area and wait about a minute. If something comes out of the bottom of the car, specifically something black tis could indicate the oil is leaking. If green comes out, this means your antifreeze is leaking and if pink fluid comes out this can mean your transmission is out.

Do the research! Know you make and model better than the salesman. Look at what people say about the car. How it withholds through the years.

Last but not least take it to a mechanic. A professional opinion is always the best. Ask them if they think it is worth the price your paying. Let them take a look into the mechanics to make sure everything is working well.

If you have the time run a history report on the car. This will tell you if it has ever been in an accident. These reports are available from dealers or ordered online. CARFAX is a great company who offers one of the most comprehensive car reports available to purchase. Follow these steps to insure you are buying the right car for you and your family.
